Soup Night – Wednesday 10 August

Hello All,

This coming Wednesday, 10 August from 7:00 – 8:30pm we will be hosting a soup night with our friends from Two Good serving up some delicious soup, here is a link to their site that you can check out if you are not familiar with what they do. http://www.twogood.com.au/#intro

We will be hosting most, if not all of the work done by the students in the UNSW studio group from the final submission last semester as we move forward with developing our designs for St Canice. We will be having plenty of guests and the more that come and participate in conversation and discussion the merrier! Thanks and hope to see you there.

Open Studio – Sunday 7 August

A reminder to those following the progress of St. Canice and the studio group. The students will be posting their work from last semester throughout the hall under the church this coming Sunday after mass from 9:15 – 10:30. We hope to see the community out there and will hopefully have some students joining to take any questions and comments about individual projects or the studio as a whole.

Hope to see you out there this Sunday!

Soup Night – 10 August

In addition to the studio viewing session between masses on 7 August (Sunday) we will be hosting a soup night in the church annex on 10 August (Wednesday) where work will be presented and discussed.

All are welcome, friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances! Stay tuned for final dates and times for these events, thanks.

Semester 2 – Back to Work!

The students and tutors return to session on 29 July as the second semester commences on this final graduation studio. The first couple of weeks we will be based in the studio spaces at UNSW, however by the third week (at the latest), we will begin our work back in the annex hall at Saint Canice.

Along with the direction of Sue and Saint Canice, we will hopefully be hosting a viewing session between masses on 7 August where a selection of every student’s final work will be on display.

Stay tuned for final dates and times! We look forward to seeing you there!

Semester 1 – Final Research Studio Presentations

The first semester has come and gone, very quickly for some, not quick enough for others! On 16 June all 18 students who are part of the Saint Canice project presented their culmination of work and research to several reviewers, including Sue who graciously stayed for the entire session.

Unlike other “final reviews” within our architectural studies, this one has presented us with a different set of goals and challenges. We would have to take on all the advice and criticism from the review and apply it to further our projects continuing into semester 2. Some students have a clear direction which includes a strong manifesto and concept for the entire project, while others still continue to struggle with providing appropriate “solutions” to this very complex project.

Stay tuned as in the coming weeks we will all be posting our final work from semester 1 in the church hall for the public and church community to view. We look forward to comments and any thoughts moving forward!
